TI Trust CenterOn the 11th of September, 1998, a grand opening festivities marked the start of the Institute for Telematics' Trust Center, the core of any high-security Public Key Infrastructure. Vital significance for the security of data transmission in open networks must be attributed to the following two problems: First, it must be ascertainable that unauthorized persons are not able to manipulate transmitted data. Second, it must be explicit that transmitted data really was sent by an authorized sender. Similar to an "electronic notary", the certification authority of the Institute for Telematics creates and "notarizes" signature keys and produces in this way a trustworthy basis for digital signature procedures for the electronic transmission of data. The TI Trust Center is designed to meet strict judicial requirements, in order to safeguard a legally binding and secure signing of electronic information.
