Radiology CD Archive System

The radiology CD archive, which was developed at the Institute for Telematics, is an ultra- modern archiving system for storing radiological images on CD-ROMs. It receives images (by means of the DICOM protocol) from the sending stations, which are responsible for the taking of (DICOM) images. The archiving system then saves these images in a (DICOM) database. With the help of an "administration" viewer, the physician may select the desired patient radiological images out of a DICOM database. At this point, he or she may change the window parameters in the DICOM header, and then copy the images per mouse click onto CD media. In such, a catalogue data is created which contains a minimal attribute amount for each stored image. This catalogue allows for future easy access of images, due to different search options integrated into the system.
